Botox & Teens

As Botox continues to be used throughout the United States and its popularity continues to grow, an alarming group of people, teenagers are also starting to turn to Botox to increase their looks.  This disturbing trend is being address throughout the Unites States by the state legislature.

Typically, adults use Botox to smooth out wrinkles and other perceived imperfections.  In 2009, 12,110 patients nationwide under age 18 used it, 32 percent more than the prior year, the study found. Statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons for 2010 show similar use. The federal Food and Drug Administration recommends that children under 18 not use Botox.

So states are passing laws to prevent medical professions from giving Botox injections to minors unless its for a medical reason like facial spasms or for a certain eye conditions.  It will be interesting to see how many states end up passing these laws.
